Looking for NDIS short-term accommodation on the Gold Coast that feels more like a peaceful retreat than a clinical facility? The Bardo offers just that, a calm, supportive space where you can rest and recharge.
The Bardo is a private, peaceful, non-clinical space that supports people through periods of transition, challenge or recovery. And we’re proud to now be an NDIS registered provider for Short-Term Accommodation (STA) on the Gold Coast.
Whether you need a break, a reset, or just a few days to feel grounded again, The Bardo offers something different: time and space to truly reconnect with yourself, with compassionate support along the way.
What is NDIS short-term accommodation?
Short-Term Accommodation (STA), including respite, is a type of NDIS-funded support that allows participants to spend time away from their usual home.
But it’s not just about changing your environment, it’s about supporting your overall well-being.
NDIS STA funding covers:
- Accommodation
- Personal care
- Meals
- Support with daily living and activities
Our support is tailored to you, to your needs and your goals, and it can be used for up to 28 days a year. It’s helpful for:
- Taking a break from your regular living situation
- Recovering from a setback or mental health challenge
- Building independence
- Resetting routines in a supportive environment
What support do you offer at The Bardo
The Bardo was created as an alternative to clinical, impersonal STA options. Nestled in a beautiful location close to the Gold Coast and Brisbane, The Bardo is a boutique retreat that looks and feels nothing like a facility. It’s warm, calm, and designed to feel like home, just with a little extra support.
You’re not just another number at our Gold Coast NDIS STA; we only take a maximum of three guests at a time. We get to know your story, what you’re dealing with and how we can best support your needs. Whatever your NDIS goals, we’re here to provide a safe, supportive space.
Every person’s experience is different, so we offer support that’s completely focused on you.
During your stay, you’ll have access to:
- Staff who genuinely care
- One-on-one support and guidance tailored to your goals
- Nutritious, healing meals prepared to suit your dietary needs
- Optional therapies, including breathwork, meditation, gentle movement, or counselling
- Private or shared accommodation, depending on your comfort and funding
For many of our guests, just being in a calm, non-judgemental environment is just what they need.
Who is our NDIS registered STA suitable for?
The Bardo may be a good fit if you:
- Are an NDIS participant (self-managed or plan-managed)
- Are looking for a short break from your current environment
- Want to take a proactive step in your wellbeing or recovery
- Would benefit from a peaceful, supportive setting
- Need time to reset your mental health in a structured, gentle way
We can help you (or your support coordinator) determine whether your NDIS plan covers STA, and how to make it work for your needs.
